The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
The company has three new games already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
