England Bring Back Bukayo Saka But Jude Bellingham, Foden & Grealish Are Left Out

Bukayo Saka in action

The Arsenal forward has scored a dozen goals in 44 games for England.

England have called up the Arsenal winger for upcoming matches against Latvia and Wales, but there is no place for Bellingham, Foden or Grealish.

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka was absent from the previous World Cup qualifying successes over Serbia and Andorra due to a hamstring issue.

The 24-year-old recently returned for his club and found the net in their victory over Olympiacos on Wednesday.

Saka comes in for Arsenal team-mate Madueke, who is out of action until November because of a knee problem.

England meet Wales in a warm-up match at the national stadium on Thursday prior to a qualifying match in Riga on October 14.

If England win against Latvia, they will need a maximum of two more points from their final two qualifiers versus Serbia and Albania in the next month to reach next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah comes in for Newcastle United’s Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following suffering a knee injury against Arsenal recently.

Elliot Anderson and Spence, who earned their first England call-ups last month, retain their places. Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, despite the recovery of Wharton.

Saka has featured in just a single match for the manager since taking over as England manager, due to fitness and hamstring injuries.

Bellingham was absent from the previous squad as he was rehabilitating after shoulder surgery and has managed just a single start for his club since returning from injury.

The Manchester City player was omitted from the coach’s last England squad following a dip in performance and has been unable to force his way back, despite a impressive beginning to the season with Manchester City.

The forward also misses out in spite of a resurgence with Everton. He has not played for England since October 2024.

'Scrutiny on those left out rather than included'

The manager’s latest England squad draws attention to the players the boss has omitted rather than the included names.

Jude Bellingham's exclusion may cause surprise but Tuchel understandably feels there is no rush to bring back the Madrid midfielder.

Manchester City's Foden and on-loan Everton forward Jack Grealish have both performed well in the early stages of the season.

The players Tuchel utilised in the team’s qualifying victories versus Serbia and Andorra deserve the chance to continue.

It will bring disappointment that Arsenal's Noni Madueke is not included due to a fitness issue.

The Forest player has looked right at home at England senior level.

The England boss is a admirer of the attacker, especially, and also the City star.

One unexpected move, it is the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Bellingham, of course, will be needed in the future.
